North American Basketball Association

The NABA (North American Basketball Association) is a theoretical minor league, or alternative competitor league, or successor league to the NBA — theorized to appear after the NBA's monopoly over basketball entertainment and labor is revoked by Congress (see civicathletics.org's research on whether the NBA is a monopoly), and after its demands for taxpayer funding are refused by cities that host its teams, or after fans lose interest and its business model collapses.

The NABA will encourage non-profit/shareholder and public ownership of its member teams, without forbidding private ownership (see civicathletics.org's research on public and community ownership of American sports franchises), and will support amateur and semi-pro regional leagues (like the proposed OBA), whose All-State teams are invited to the NABA playoffs for the inaugural 2027/28 season. (The 2026/2027 winter season will be conducted in a "fantasy sports" arena.)
